GOAL Blog Launch
Gun Owners' Action League (GOAL) is pleased to announce the launching of our new blog site. For 35 years GOAL has been fighting to protect the civil rights of our members and the citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is our hope that this new media will allow us to communicate the need for drastic changes to the public policy towards firearm ownership and criminal enforcement here in Massachusetts.
The current policies and laws in place in the Commonwealth have resulted in one of the greatest public safety and civil rights disasters in recent history. The results of years of incomprehensible persecutorial laws combined with a growing social immaturity towards firearm ownership have led to what is now known as the "Decade of Disaster".
Through overreaching arbitrary laws, lawful gun ownership has been decreased by 85% since the Gun Control Act of 1998. While some might foolishly celebrate that demise of lawful citizens, they do so at the risk of our society.
Since the passage of the draconian laws in 1998 lawful gun ownership may have decreased, but gun related crime has drastically increased. According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health the following increases in crime have taken place since the Gun Control Act of 1998.
79 % INCREASE in homicide related firearm deaths since 1998.
72 % INCREASE in firearm assault related injuries since 1998.
243 % INCREASE in assault related firearm hospital discharges since 1998.
331 % INCREASE in firearm assault related emergency room visits since 1999.
590 % INCREASE in firearm assault outpatient observations since 2001.
(Most recent information available.)
It is clear that gun control is a failed social experiment that must be done away with. That is why GOAL has launched a new effort to completely rewrite the Massachusetts gun laws that will allow us to respect the civil rights of lawful citizens while addressing the needs of criminal enforcement. We invite all citizens to visit www.MassGunLawReform.com and witness the clear evidence of gun control's failure and see how our plan to reform the laws can provide a brighter future for all of us.

I wish you the best, things are not looking good and god knows what's up for the future!!!

Nice article, strong opinion, good stats...please write in conversational english. Tone down the big words, not everybody is going to get it or worse you'll give the appearance of an air of superiority. Write for the masses and keep up the good work.

James E. Timilty has introduced a bill SB1825 that will ensure less people are eligible to own a firearm in Massachusetts. With the passage of question 2 minor marijuana possession was decriminalized, so it couldn't be held against anyone applying for a license to carry.
If this bill passes anyone ever caught with even a small amount of marijuana will never get their license to carry.

Congressional records show that John Bingham, the main author of Sec. 1 of the 14th Amendment, had officially clarified that the 14th A. applied ALL constitutional privileges and immunities to the states. In fact, Bingham read the 2nd A. when he read the first eight amendments as examples of constitutional statutes containing privileges and immunities which the 14th A. applied to the states.
See the 2nd A in the middle column of John Bingham's discussion of the 14th A. in the congressional record.

So not only does the congressional record make it evident that the USSC's tradition of selective incorporation has no basis in constitutional law, Bingham's words indicate that the 39th Congress had agreed that the 2nd A. is a personal right that the 14th A. applied to the states.
Fact-based corrections welcome.

So may we all bring civil suit against the state of Ma, arguing infringement of personal civil rights? I would certainly stand for that, many folks would. I would even help pay for that.

I e-mailed this letter to our state Reps. yesterday.
I am sending or e-mailing this letter to every gun owner in the state, CRIMINALS DON'T OBEY THE LAW SO GUN CONTROL CAN'T WORK! IF YOU WANT TO STOP GUN VIOLENCE YOU NEED TO MAKE THE PENALTIES AS FOLLOWS. Felon in possession of a gun, five years mandatory state prison. Comitt a crime with a gun, ten years mandatory state prison. Shoot someone while committing a crime, twenty years state prison. Murder, life no chance for parole. Also, a two strike law for gun crimes, two convictions for a gun crime = Life in prison.
Why even Liberal Democrats should support the Second Amendment, GOAL and The NRA. Things change, maybe a family member gets threatened or harassed. It might be your sister, daughter, brother or wife. You get a feeling that something bad is going to happen and you call the police. The police inform you that they can't do anything until something happens or a crime is committed. At that point you should have the option to protect you family and property and it shouldn't take months to get a permit or license to carry. It should take less than a week after taking a gun safety course and the fee should be $25.00 for five years.
I work in law enforcement in Massachusetts and our state is one of the most restrictive states in the country on personal freedoms. The criminals in our state have more rights than our law abiding citizens. The liberal politicians just don't care, they have reduced gun ownership by 50% in ten years by passing confusing complicated gun laws with high fees and red tape. We have a chance to elect a pro gun US Senator in January. He is State Senator Scott P. Brown. He would help gun owners all over the country if elected. Sen. Brown is a fiscally conservative, twenty-nine years in the Army National Guard. Please check out his websites and contribute any way you can. We need him in the US Senate.
Please use caution when voting for laws that violate our Constitutional Rights.
Sincerely,
Christopher J. Rinaldi
